A bunch of friends -- Eric, Jamie, Christine [livejournal.com profile] lyceum_arabica and Mark [livejournal.com profile] tristmasjedi and Rebecca all came over, and we played Rock Band and ate delicious veggie chili!

We've got the midi setup thing set up, so we plugged in the drum set at first, but eventually tried it out with Lindsey's proper midi keyboard... the new one has keyboard parts too. They've done a lot of work on the interface; I think RB3 is considerably better-designed than the first two. It lets you get to the fun parts faster, and makes it easier for people to jump in without menu-navigation gymnastics.

(moreover: our friends are awesome.) So much fun! I think this is going to inspire us to do some Rock Band -- Real LifeTM, as he calls it, at Eric's house.

Oh, and I'm finishing up my verb-valency project, so I can present that. Y'know, because I'm flying to Israel for that in about a week. It's going alright; I want to have the programming mostly done tomorrow, definitely by Monday.

Does anyone else kind of squirm with embarrassment when the conversation turns to MIDI? It just seems so impossibly old and clunky, and it's hard to believe that it's still around. I dunno, maybe people who care about graphics feel a similar squirminess when they see a VGA connector?

Look how high-tech, though!
