There's a huge interesting culture surrounding Hashing (ie, running with the Hash House Harriers). Chris, one of my running club friends, was talking about this yesterday on our run. It's this outside-of-everyday-life environment where you go by your special Hashing Name (you're "Just Firstname" until you get one), the normal social hierarchy is flattened (even/especially for military hashers), and you have to point at things with your elbow. Also, there's alcohol and running. Sounds kind of like carnival!

Apparently in Spain [citation needed], pointing at your tie can have the meaning "your wife got this for me". I humbly submit that, if true, this is awesome.

What have you learned recently?

I learned PHP is incredibly liberal about filenames/locations and that fixing them up reduces seektimes which means faster page loads

I've learned how the rippling effect is controlled in wall warts, and how some are rectified to use the full sin wave of AC and others only harvest the top halves of the wave.

I have learned that using "C-u M-x [e]shell" I can launch several [e]shells in Emacs. With "M-x [e]shell" you can launch just one [e]shell.
