I got a phone call from a really friendly, well-meaning Obama volunteer yesterday, trying to drum up campaign funds.

"Hello, is Alex Rudnick there?"
"Hrm, who is this? ..."
"I'm calling on behalf of a political cause that you support? ..."

Weelllll....

For the next eight minutes, I explained my disappointments and my outrage. I talked about Occupy, about the ACTA copyright treaty, about SOPA, about Guantánamo, about Bradley Manning, about the "targeted killings" and drone strikes. She was really sympathetic, actually, and hadn't heard about Bradley Manning, but said she'd go read about him.

"So, you're disgusted!", she said, once or twice. Pretty sure she understood my position.

Yeah...

Pretty much the only thing keeping me supportive is the amount of crazy on the other side of the political field...

Yeah, I'm going to vote for him again, unless something really bizarre happens... just, I don't have to like it. I donated to Buddy Roemer today.

I'd actually like to see Obama have to debate Ron Paul. Roemer is, of course, even less likely: but maybe he can push on the discourse a little...

this is about how I feel about it. I had hopes for Obama, but he's been nothing but a pushover. Sometimes I wish Ron Paul would dial down some of the crazy, he's probably the second most likely I'd vote for (did you know he's delivered over 4,000 BABIES citation: http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/paul-carol1.html) but he's also number one on the list of People the American People Would Never Ever Elect as President

Politics, how do they work

hint: they don't

Roemer, who? *reads Wikipedia* Why?

It'd be sort of funny to be an anti-donater, causing campaign volunteers to quit.

It would have been nice to have a liberal primary challenge to Obama.

OTOH the GOP is fully of Romney and crazy people. If it came down to Romney I could almost think about voting Green on the grounds of there not being a huge difference. Though Supreme Court.

Roemer because he's making a big deal about campaign finance reform, and because he's an Occupy supporter! Lessig has been enthused, which is how he got my attention.

His twitter is fantastic: http://mobile.twitter.com/BuddyRoemer

yeah, i watched this video and thought "whoa, i should learn something about campaign finance."

i value Occupy for much the same reason (pushing discourse)...
