We played racquetball this afternoon -- Zach's got some racquetball skillX0rs, and Marty was doing pretty well, considering he'd never played before. It felt good to play... I hadn't done that for a while, playing racquetball.

I practiced juggling butterknives.

We spent some time parrying flying objects (like dry erase markers) with butterknives.

We watched the Flying Circus skits about Spam and Mr. Hilter.

I wrote a little article about hash tables.

I looked around online for a bit, found one of my student's LJs, considered putting him on my friends list, opted to punt on the issue, played with hackmode (which is now back up -- Brett and myself are currently setting up apache for it), chatted with Brett for a while...

Earlier today, we met with our Practicum TA and showed him some UML for HolyFire after waiting around for a long time for him to get to us. It was ... exciting. UML is always exciting...

... and Marty and myself tried to figure out just what it is that people do on Friday nights, instead of writing articles about hash tables. He conceptualized some area with music and people hanging around, maybe with walls lined with books... I came up with Cafe oM, which is sadly in Tallahassee and closed. Hrmph. There needs to be some place like that around here... surely... what is it with midtown Atlanta that it's not all full of cool places for Tech students to hang out? There are ... what, 10 * 2^10 undergrads hanging around looking for a nice cup of coffee? On the order of half of us are under 21... and ... eh. I guess there's relatively little money in it, and real estate 'round these parts is expensive.

... but as Marty pointed out, this is Atlanta, and there's gotta be interesting stuff for us to do on the weekends that doesn't involve alcomahol and smoke and drunk people.

Ah, and somebody got capped over by North Avenue. Just off campus. A Georgia State student, shot in the chest when he tried to escape from somebody trying to mug him. He's in the hospital now. Lovely...

I think I'll be doing my running during daylight hours now...
