So I'm sitting in a little lab in the Love Building at FSU, hanging around and trying to come up with Clever Things to do before class starts. I just set up a CVS repository so we can store our project (for those of you who read Brett ([livejournal.com profile] zip4096), we're on the same team -- he's already made leaps and bounds and put together a driver that snags images from this video capture card already -- crazy!) in there... and I'm looking at the List o' ThingZ on the whiteboard in the lab, wondering where to start in...

This week's been pretty interesting thus far. The church is putting on a vacation Bible school this week, and I've been helping out with that -- Mom's leading the music (it's an interesting endeavour, getting mobs of little kids to sing -- they seem to enjoy it, as does she), and we've got our little rock 'n' roll band going to help that happen. I'm playing the drums, which is something that I do from time to time, although not nearly as often as I'd like -- I hadn't sat down at a drum set for maybe two years, which was, coincidentally, the last time I played drums for the church summer camp... I get the impression that I could be a pretty good drummer, given access to a set and time to bang on it for a while, where I wouldn't annoy people... but that's satisfying :) I've also been doing the daily skits for VBS, in which I'm portraying a scuba-diving dog (with cool floppy ears and big flippers) with the horribly horrible name of "Scuba Dooba Doo". Oy vey.

Today I'm working on something on the order of 2.5 hours of sleep, although it hasn't really affected me outside of a slow start... yesterday afternoon, Lloydus showed up at my house, having run over from his, and we ended up hanging around, doing another run later that evening. At first we tried doing a run barefoot, but that didn't work out super-well, so we went back and put on shoes and were much happier about the whole situation. Personally, my stride just felt more powerful -- maybe it'd take some more practice to get a good strong stride with no shoes, on asphalt. We ended up hanging around at his house, drinking some coffee, and making happy happy vegan fruity pancakes at around midnight, and then talked about Stuff until on the order of 0400. While our usual topics have to do with religion and myth and God and the universe as a whole and how people relate to it, last night all of this took a turn towards LotR and the Silmarillion, which was pretty interesting -- Esther, the more I think about this, the more I realize that you two need to take some time to let your minds bounce off of each other for a while... I think you'd either find out that you're very kindred spirits, or that you can't understand where he's coming from at all (and vice-versa). Particularly on the topic of LotR and how people deal with it, you might have a better shot at explaining slash than I did, love...

Hrum ... so yah :) I need to call Esther, and I need to get resermavations made for staying in Spain. In that order. This is getting slightly worrisome, just timewise...

Ooh, and this afternoon, I'll have to go run in the woods :) Or get to, rather. With shoes. Maybe I'll run to Lloyd's house...
