phone calls
Nov. 23rd, 2011 09:15 pmI got a phone call from a really friendly, well-meaning Obama volunteer yesterday, trying to drum up campaign funds.
"Hello, is Alex Rudnick there?"
"Hrm, who is this? ..."
"I'm calling on behalf of a political cause that you support? ..."
Weelllll....
For the next eight minutes, I explained my disappointments and my outrage. I talked about Occupy, about the ACTA copyright treaty, about SOPA, about Guantánamo, about Bradley Manning, about the "targeted killings" and drone strikes. She was really sympathetic, actually, and hadn't heard about Bradley Manning, but said she'd go read about him.
"So, you're disgusted!", she said, once or twice. Pretty sure she understood my position.
