get fierce
Feb. 1st, 2014 10:40 pmHey there, Internet friends.
I've been really quiet. I guess I've been kind of down, but I'm getting over it. The winter hit me hard. Didn't run for a while (in part due to some tendon issues, but I think those are fixed for now) and felt cooped up inside due to the really serious cold -- whereas I'd pretty much just kept running through previous winters.
Been sleeping a lot. Grumpy.
But. The weather I think is getting better, my tendons are fixed and I'm running nontrivially again. My passive sad grumpiness is turning to useful move-forward rage and joy.
Lindsey's been in job-finding mode as we are starting to see the end of our respective PhD programs.
And, uh, I've got an interview at that big Internets company where like half of the employees are my dear friends. Need to get that scheduled. Oh mans, I know exactly what I want to do when I come back -- here's hoping they hire me and let me do that thing.
Got a paper accepted at LREC, which is cool, but they take basically everything :) Trying to get a workshop paper or two there, too.
Hey! Hey, here's the thing. For February, I'm going to do some bodyweight-type exercises every day. And I'm going to run at least four days a week. (I'm still loving Fitocracy and you should be on that site if you like working out and want me to give your workouts "Props".)
And I'm going to work on my dissertation and dissertation-related program activities every day. Watch for big software and big writing. Especially lots of notes on the related work section.
