- People are entertaining. And humans are pattern-matching machines, and we're tremendously good at it, and it's not always clear how it works... but every so often, you manage to match a behaviour that you thought was pretty unique, and all of a sudden, people make a lot more sense. That was very vague. But it happens a lot for me.

- So at Steve's recommendation, I'm reading Your God Is Too Small, by this dude JB Phillips, who was apparently an Anglican theologian... a cursory google turned up the purest beauty. People are hilarious. Holy crap, I mean... jesus-is-lord.com ...BOLDFACING and CAPITALIZING STUFF and linking to articles about how the second law of thermodynamics disproves evolution. How stereotypical is that? I would now like to quote MC Hawking.

my science is tight, rhymes faster than light... )

Er, anyway. So essentially, I hate people who disagree with me. But YGITS is pretty cool, so far. He's discussing these different (but quite common, I've noticed) ideas people have about God, and how they lead to some pretty screwed-up people.

- Denis, who's in Ashok's class with me, and is deeply, almost frighteningly, intelligent, is taking Compilers in the fall. And so is Vlad (my partner-TA, also scarily clever). If we can have three person teams, man, Mike and I need to snag one of these guys.

I feel like I had other stuff to discuss. Perhaps that was all...

Here's a little dialogue from the CoC Commons (which, incidentally, is currently packed -- and so are the labs).

The scene: I'm sitting at a table, it's about 9pm, and I'm clearly talking to somebody and working on something.
2130 student: Hey, can I ask a question?
me: *looks directly at him* No.
student: *hands me some papers* So, my problem is...
me: See, I said that you couldn't ask a question...
student: *continues describing the issue with his homework*
me: I'm working on something. I'm not being a TA right now.
student: See, for homework 10, it says to process the command-line the same way as in homework 9, and this confuses me, because <paraphrase>apparently I don't understand "do the same thing"...</paraphrase>

... I answered his question. I wasn't planning on not helping him, but the point that I don't /always/ have to be doing the TA thing seemed totally lost. Not so much as a "hey, if you're not too busy, could you help me with this?" Insensitive clod!! *fumes* *gets over it*

Okay, actually, I mostly think it was amusing.

So much code to write between now and the end of next week. It'll be exciting.
